It’s time again to start wrapping the gifts for the 2021 holiday season. Oh, you say you haven’t gotten anything yet? Well here are some ideas from Teledata Select that might help.
Teledata Select is a technology services company with a heavy emphasis on office productivity and efficiency. With so many people working from home now, I thought I would talk about some of the products my wife and I use around our offices with hopes that it will spark some ideas for you.
In this remote working world we are in, a quality sounding, easy to use conference speaker is a must. The Poly Sync 20 is a small portable solution that I like enough that I got one for my wife who seems to be constantly on a teleconference call. It is so nice to not have the bulky conference speaker taking up space on my desk or the tinny sound of my computer speaker.
I do spend a lot of time on telephone calls. When it is not a team meeting where a conference speaker is needed, I use a headset so I am not disturbing the rest of the office/house. The Plantronics Savi headset is another Polycom product. It automatically switches from my PC phone to my cell phone. Other headsets from Jabra and Sennheiser are also worth a look.
As Teams and Zoom video calls are also popular meeting tools, how is the lighting in the room that calls are made from? There are many video lighting solutions available, too many to offer up a specific link but they might be worth a look.
Updating the home office makes life nicer for those of us who spend so much time there. But let’s not forget that there is more to life (hopefully) then the office. For example, I like taking pictures. I even have a film camera I use every once in a while. Mostly I use my phone for its convenience and because it is always handy. The fact that smartphone photo quality is good enough is good as big bulky cameras for most of our needs also helps. The problem with Cell phone photos is that they mostly stay on the camera. . Besides being hard to share, I hear from someone at least once a year lamenting the photos they lost due to a phone crash or loss. There are solutions now. Beside online backups which still make it hard to share photos, an option is a small memory stick that inserts directly to the power port. With the associated app they can automatically download All the photos and videos from the mobile phone to the memory stick itself. Then the memory stick can be plugged into your computer for easier sorting, organizing and sharing.
If you want to work up a themed gift box, add a digital photo frame. They are a fun way to share the special moments with extended family. A pretty popular internet connected digital photo frame is made by Pix-Star. Here is a link to the Pix-Star website.
Are you someone who has a lot of printed photos hidden away in old albums that rarely get pulled out, I highly recommend using a digitizing service to back up convert all those photos and even video tapes. I did it years ago and don’t have to worry keeping them safe anymore. They are now backed up to the cloud for easy access whenever I am feeling nostalgic.
A good stocking stuffer is a keychain powerbank. These little batteries hold just enough power to bring a dead phone back to life for a short call or a few texts. Enough to get the owner out of a tight spot.
Video door bells are also a thoughtful gift. In addition to the safety factor, you might be able to start a you tube channel with all the craziness they seem to capture.
This year is a little different obviously. With the supply chain issues going on, maybe the easiest gift is the gift of your time. How about making a reservation at a nice restaurant after the holiday rush is over. Add the promise of no distracting devices and this might just be the best gift ever,.
I hope this helped. We would like to wish you the best this holiday season. Have a great 2022!!!
