The US Government has just called an end to the Covid Pandemic. We have all had to adapt to a new world thrown at us with no warning. There was an overnight shift in how we lived and how we worked. Gartner, a Business Technology Research and Consulting firm, conducted a survey on how employees feel about remote work. Some highlights shown below:
- 86% of workers are more productive when working remotely.
- 34% of US workers would take a 5% pay cut to continue working remotely.
- 29% more of remote workers say they are happy in their jobs compared to on-site workers.
- 82% of remote workers reported lower stress which has shown to reflect in happier more engaged employees.
- 80% of telecommuters report higher morale.
- 68% of the remote workers are not concerned that being away from the office will harm their career progression.
In summary, most of the US work force reports being happier and more productive while working from home.
Studies done by WFH Research show that since 1985, on average, workers were working remotely less than 5% of the time up until the Pandemic. After an immediate rise to 60%, the remote work average has since declined to about 28%. The study shows that Employers have a desire to move towards a hybrid on-site/work from home solution, with a focus on more days in the office. The average worker, however, would prefer working from home rather than on site.
As our working situation continues to be determined, it is obvious that some form of a remote situation is here to stay. To that end, it is important to stay up with the latest technologies that will allow smooth transitions between office and remote work as well as remove productivity obstacles regardless of the work location.
