Checking In With Your Remote Employees

by | Feb 1, 2021 | Remote Office

By now, most of us have adjusted to working remotely but here are definitely some downsides. As I travel around the country, I try to listen to my hometown radio station to keep up with the local news. One of the DJ’s has been broadcasting from his home studio during Covid. His broadcasts commonly experience garbling, cut-outs and flutter. I know that he is in a very remote, but it would be really nice if he could look into more bandwidth or a better telecom provider. DO you know how your remote employees are adjusting to the situation?

People adapt to their situation and make do with what they have so maybe Home Officethey haven’t spoken up about their challenges. Now that we are a few months in, it is a good time to check in with your employees and coworkers to learn what challenges they may be having working remotely.

Some questions to ask:

  • Do they like working remotely?
  • Do they feel like they are being productive?
  • What challenges are they encountering?
  • Is there anything that would make their job easier?

Managing your remote employees is challenging, especially when it came upon you so abruptly. It is important to stay in touch and have clear goals and expectations to make it work for all involved. Keep the communication paths open.
